Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2026
This policy is for NaijaBeats listeners. We keep it simple: we collect only what we need, we never sell your data, and you stay in control.
1. Introduction
NaijaBeats ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use the NaijaBeats music streaming app, how we use it, and your rights as a listener.
2. What We Collect
When you use NaijaBeats, we may collect: Account data — your display name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text). Listening activity — songs you play, playlists you create, tracks you like, and your search history. This is used to personalise your experience and improve recommendations. Device & technical data — device type, operating system version, and app version. This helps us fix bugs and optimise performance.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect: • Payment or banking information (listeners do not make payments on this app) • Your physical location • Contacts or other apps on your device • Microphone or camera data • Any data beyond what is needed to provide the streaming service
4. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to: • Create and manage your listener account • Sync your liked songs, playlists, and history across devices • Personalise music recommendations and discovery • Diagnose and fix technical issues • Send important account notifications (e.g. password reset emails) • Prevent spam, abuse, and fraudulent activity
5. Third-Party Services
NaijaBeats uses a small number of trusted third-party services to operate: • Supabase — stores your account data and listening library securely • Cloudflare — delivers the app and music files quickly via CDN • Resend — sends transactional emails (e.g. password reset) We do not use advertising networks, tracking pixels, or sell your data to any third party.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share data with the third-party services listed above, strictly to operate the app. We may disclose data if required by Nigerian law or a valid court order.
7. Data Retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymised usage statistics (with no identifying information) may be retained longer for service improvement.
8. Data Security
We protect your data with encrypted storage, HTTPS for all data transfers, and access controls that limit who within our team can see personal information. While we take every reasonable precaution, no internet service is 100% secure.
9. Your Rights
As a NaijaBeats listener, you have the right to: • See the personal data we hold about you • Correct inaccurate information • Delete your account and associated data • Opt out of non-essential communications • Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) To exercise any right, email support@naijabeats.com.

11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via an in-app notice or email. Your continued use of the app after the update means you accept the revised policy.
